Anupama, I think you are one of the very best sitarists in the world. Most unfortunately, I have never heard you play in person, but I've gotten a good impression from your performance in New Jersey of raag Shyam Kalyan. It really was fantastic - such virtuosity, and such an amazing pouring forth of constantly new musical invention. (The tabla player said "shabaz" twice!) Bless you and your work, Anupama! My great hope is to hear you play some day - do you ever come to Boston?
Today 26th dec 2010 at Swaramayee Gurukul ,Pune,I was impressed by the sitar performance of Anupamaji. It is a pleasing blend of Imdadkhani Gharana and Nikhil Banerjee(Maihar). She has great future indeed!
I studied sitar way back in the sixties with Shyam Yodh, an accomplished desciple of Rais Khansahib. Anupama Bhagwat is one of the best female sitarists I've ever heard - in fact she may be THE best sitarist of her generation. I have heard the youtube video clip of her performance of Shyam Kalyan, and it is truly thrilling. She is developing steadily and swiftly, reaching higher levels year by year. I hope she will have all of the success and acclaim to which she is clearly entitled, and I shall look forward eagerly to hearing about any concerts in the future, and of opportunities for purchasing new CDs. Congratulations, Anupama - you have a real fan here!
Hello Anupama garu, I am your new fan. I don't understand subtleties of music, but I felt great listening to your music. Great art. Kudos!!
been a long time since we chatted & shared CDs. I just recently re-designed my www.beerweazl.com website. I had previously put a link to your site; and, when I checked the link, I see that you too have improved your site. looks fabulous! l last winter, I spent three very enjoyable months in southeast Asia; mostly Thailand, Cambodia & New Zealand. in a few weeks, I will be returning to Bangkok and spending more time exploring Asia. I am planning to meet up with my son, Shawn, in India, for a few weeks. it would be nice to actually meet. all the best with your creative ventures. happy trails, Derek Stephen McPhail aka "uncle Steve"
Namaskar, i feel so happy to read Guruji's biography written by you. He is also my Revered Guruji. i was fortunate to be his disciple frm 86-89. he totally transformed my outlook towards life, my thinking. Once i had met Ustd Shahid Parvez who refers to him as Incarnation of GODDESS SARASWATI. So much true. Wish u good luck. with best wishes- kspai, UDUPI.

Strangely I stumbled upon you while researching the name Anupama going through the bumpf on the movie of the same name - It is a beautiful name but when I saw you and heard your music, I think it is one of those rare incidences of nature when all perfection comes together. Long may you continue be a part of it.
I just saw your performance at The Lakshmi Temple in Ashland Massachusetts. You are not only superb with your playing and technique but your presence was confident, occatonal sweet smile and laughter and I felt the energy of Durga at times wanting to passionatly make your feelings heard through the sitar. Bravo. Everyone on this planet needs to hear your playing and feel your energy. I wish the Best for you.
